DB Construction is totally committed to our environmental responsibilities. The management strongly believes that we have a moral duty to play our as a contractor in helping the environment along with the legal obligations we must abide by.
It is the Company’s policy to operate in accordance with our high levels of corporate responsibility. In order to achieve this, DB Construction adheres to ISO14001:2004 and is committed to:
- Compliance with the requirements of current and future applicable Environmental Legislation Approved Codes of Practice and industry recognized guidelines and standards;
- Ensuring effective management of the environment by implementing and operating an Environmental Management System for ourselves and in conjunction with our clients. Adopt and adhere to our clients working practices and procedures at all times;
- Setting and reviewing objectives and targets to ensure continual improvement through the use of Environmental Performance Indicators;
- Seeking to reduce consumption of materials and the minimization of waste in all operations and promote reuse, recycling and the use of recycled materials where practicable;
- Developing staff awareness of global environmental issues through effective education and training, helping to ensure environmental protection measures are maintained and improved. Define responsibility for waste management to a named individual. Provide training and supervision so employees can prevent the risk of ground contamination;
- Controlling, preventing and seeking to minimise the level of emissions/pollution in all areas of the organisation. All employees to report any accidental spillage to their supervisors. Site supervisors to ensure that all employees are provided with the waste management plan where required;
- Ensuring others who undertake work for the organisation, such as contractors, adhere to the management standards and controls as laid down in the company Environmental Management System;
- Monitoring progress and communicating environmental performance information as appropriate and committing to continual improvement;
- For all projects under taken: Ensure all liquid fuels / oils are kept in suitable containers and drip trays. Spill kits are to be at hand whilst carrying out refueling on site. Pumping of ground water to be pumped to segregation tanks prior to entering a water course. To develop working method statements and risk assessment of all tasks which will have an impact on the environment;
- Communicating the policy to all company personnel and making it freely available to customers, the general public and other interested parties. To grow as a business without compromise to the environment.

As a sign of our commitment to the environment DB Construction in conjunction with Carbon Earth will be presenting each of our clients who would like them with tree planting certificates, on successful project completion. The certificate shows exactly how DB Construction has off set the carbon emissions generated on the project on behalf of our client, including what type of trees have been planted and their exact GPS location.
