King Edward quay is a project funded by b-sure & Essex county council, a co-operative international effort to improve the quality of life in town and port areas. An abundance of dedication & commitment was injected into this scheme from a very early stage to ensure the finished works were flawless. What was once a dilapidated old quay is now a contemporary space where people can enjoy the river and relax. It has played a vital role in the regentrification of the surrounding environment.

Ducting was installed below ground to service the stretch of new bespoke lighting columns. New water & electric distribution bollards were set by the quayside into the paved walkway.

Birco Lite is a robust linear drainage system for applications up to & including Load Classification C250 when used with the Birco Lite grating. The system at the quay comprises a range of channels, gratings and in-line outfalls with a common junction outfall. Granite kerbs were run the length of the quay & inset where necessary to create quayside parking areas.

Marshalls Mistral & Tegula paving completed the groundwork’s Mistral uses recycled aggregates & are textured granite aggregate setts. The exposed granite aggregates of Mistral create stunning visual effects to frame modern developments & contemporary public spaces. Pennant Grey Tegula Paving was laid along the quaysides in a design to reflect the quays maritime heritage. With a selection of specialist bespoke stainless steel street furniture including huge benches & bins to compliment the already impressive project.

DB Construction have now transformed over half a kilometre of this old derelict quay & delivered it to an exceptional standard. Along this footway runs street lighting & furniture, parking bays, electric/water bollards & drainage channels.
