Sible Hedingham flood alleviation scheme started October 2007 and lasted for duration of 6 weeks. Three lagoons were constructed on existing water courses to collect water from surrounding areas. DB Construction installed the drainage system required to alleviate the water collected from the lagoons through a system known as ‘hydrobrake’.
450mm diameter pipe was installed up to 3.5 meters deep, 2.4 meters diameter concrete chambers up to 4 meters deep, incorporating the hydrobrake system & in-situ concrete headwalls.
The scheme was designed in consultation with the environment agency, Braintree district council, Sible Hedingham parish council and was carried out to the latest environmental standards.
