Silverwoods in Thorrington, Colchester is a private development of a new 3 storey , 72 bedroom care home. DB Construction were contracted to carry out all sub-structure & groundwork’s to bring the development to floor slab level.
The site was formally a holiday camp with the footprint of the new build situated on a steep gradient. Over 500 tonne of material was excavated from the southern side of the site and transferred to the northern side to make up the levels and allow commencement of the foundations.
Conventional reinforced strip foundations, blockwork, Type 2 fill & over 80 independent soil stacks & pipe lines were constructed before a reinforced concrete slab was cast covering over 18,000 square ft.
