DB Construction were required to carry out a 5 meter deep sewer diversion to enable a new housing development to be constructed above the existing 750mm dia Anglian Water foul sewer pipe.

The working area was very confined and presented a unique challenge for this type of work. Meticulous planning and experienced conscientious staff were key to carrying out this major sewer diversion correctly & safely.

Works involved constructing 4 new 1800mm dia Type A manholes ranging from 5m deep to 4.5m deep, over 30m of 750mm dia concrete pipe was laid and a very complex over pumping operation was set up to allow for the final connection/diversion works and manhole benching.

All works were completed to a very high standard, inspected regularly by Anglian Water and signed off with no snagging. Works were completed on programme and to budget with no incidents, accidents or complaints.
